Missed-punch benefits

Turn payroll cleanup into a review workflow.

Missed punches are normal. The important part is keeping the correction explainable: what changed, why it changed, who reviewed it, and whether the period is approved before payroll.

Built for corrections, approvals, and payroll-ready records.

Find incomplete entries

The live clocked-in count and time-entry filters help managers find open shifts before payroll closes.

Let employees request fixes

Employees can ask to correct an existing entry and explain the reason for the change.

Review before updating

Managers can approve or reject edit requests, or cancel approval to reopen an already-approved period.

Keep the record connected

The original entry, requested change, reason, and approval state stay part of the time record.

How missed-punch correction works

Clockspot gives managers a clear path from finding the issue to approving the final record.

Find the issue

Spot entries that need attention.

Missed punches usually show up as open shifts, unusual totals, wrong jobs, or employee requests. Managers can review them before payroll starts.

Open shiftsSee who is currently clocked in and when each open shift started.
Missing out timesFilter the time entries page to inspect entries that still need an out time.
Wrong job or timeEmployees can request a correction when the time or job on an entry is wrong.
Searchable time entriesReview by employee, date range, job, and approval status when a question appears.

Review corrections

Keep edit requests attached to the original entry.

A correction is easier to trust when the manager can see the old value, the requested value, and the reason.

Original valuesManagers can see the entry before approving the requested change.
Requested valuesThe request can include corrected in time, out time, or job when those fields apply.
Employee commentThe employee can explain why the entry needs a correction.
Approve or rejectApproved requests update the entry; rejected requests leave the entry unchanged.

Close payroll cleanly

Approve corrected time before reports are exported.

Once the entry is corrected, managers can approve the timesheet so payroll reports are based on reviewed records.

Cancel approval when neededIf an approved timesheet needs a manager edit, cancel the approval, fix the entry, and approve again.

Missed-punch questions

Questions about missed punches and corrections.

  • Open shifts
  • Edit requests
  • Manager approvals

Can employees edit their own time entries?

Employees request edits. A manager reviews the request and decides whether to approve or reject it. Managers can also edit entries directly when they have permission.

Can an employee request a whole missing shift?

An edit request changes an existing entry. If the employee never recorded the shift at all, a manager can add the time entry.

What if the timesheet is already approved?

Managers can cancel the approval, edit the entry, and approve again. Employees can also submit edit requests for approved timesheets.

Does Clockspot decide whether a correction is legally valid?

No. Clockspot keeps the correction workflow and record together. Your business still decides how to handle policies, payroll rules, and legal requirements.
