Geofencing time clock

Geofencing time clock for approved locations.

Set approved clock locations by GPS radius, office IP, or browser device. If a web clock-in does not match, Clockspot can warn the employee, notify admins, and highlight the entry for review.

See features

GPS radius

Set geofences around approved clock locations.

IP or device

Match office Wi-Fi or a recognized browser.

Warn and flag

Unrecognized clock-ins stay visible for review.

Location reports

Review maps, activity, and compliance reports.

Geofencing benefits

Why employers use geofenced clock locations.

Geofencing helps managers see whether clock-ins came from approved work locations. Clockspot treats location as review context, not a replacement for manager judgment.

GPS radius, office IP, and device rules for approved locations.

Define on-site clock-ins

Create clock locations with a GPS radius, IP address, browser device, or a combination of rules.

Warn before saving

When warnings are enabled, a web clock-in from an unrecognized place shows the employee a confirmation before it records.

Review exceptions fairly

Unrecognized entries are highlighted for managers, while normal GPS drift and multi-site work can still be reviewed in context.

Keep location reports

Maps and location reports help managers review where clock events happened after the shift.

Customer story

I can log in from anywhere and see exactly when my employees clocked in. I would recommend Clockspot for anyone looking for a simple, user-friendly solution.

How geofenced clock-ins work

Create approved locations, decide how strict the warning should be, and review the location record before payroll.

Create approved locations

Define where clock-ins should happen.

Each clock location is a name plus one or more rules that describe how a clock-in can match it.

GPS geofenceSet a latitude, longitude, and radius. The device's GPS must report a position inside the radius.
Office IPUse an IP rule when employees should clock in from an office or worksite network.
Recognized deviceRegister a browser as a recognized device when the clock-in should come from that device.
Combined rulesA location can match more than one way, like office Wi-Fi or its geofence.

Flag exceptions

Unrecognized locations are reviewed, not silently ignored.

Clockspot can warn employees, notify admins, and highlight entries that do not match a clock location.

Employee warningWhen warnings are enabled, an unrecognized web clock-in shows a confirmation before it records.
Admin notificationAdmins and the owner can be notified when an employee clocks in from an unrecognized location.
Visible exceptionThe entry is highlighted for managers and appears in location compliance review.
No GPS on phone callsPhone clock-ins capture the calling number and voice check, not GPS geofence results.

Review location reports

See where clock events happened.

Location reports show GPS-tagged events and recognized-location details so managers can review the record after the shift.

Location mapEvery GPS-tagged clock-in and clock-out appears as a pin on a map.
Location activityReview clock events as a list, including entries with no GPS coordinates.
Compliance reportFind entries with missing or mismatched location data before payroll review.
Payroll handoffUse location as context while the final approved hours stay in your payroll-ready reports.

Common questions

Questions about geofencing.

  • GPS radius
  • IP or device rules
  • Exception review

Does Clockspot block clock-ins outside the geofence?

It flags them. With unrecognized-location warnings on, a web clock-in from outside approved locations warns the employee, can notify admins, and is highlighted for review.

Does geofencing track employees all day?

No. Clockspot location reports show clock events, not continuous tracking or a route between clock-ins.

Do employees have to share GPS?

GPS is captured when the device shares it. A clock location can also match by IP or browser device, and phone clock-ins use calling number and voice check instead of GPS.

Can one location have multiple rules?

Yes. A location can combine rules, such as office Wi-Fi, a recognized browser, or the GPS radius around the same site.
